We are excited to offer emergent and urgent endoscopy services.
Greater Lansing Veterinary Center has an array of new Storz® flexible and rigid endoscopy equipment, which allows us to perform a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures for your pets. The endoscope is a “video scope,” which allows us to see inside the intestinal, urinary, or respiratory tract of animals to retrieve foreign bodies or obtain biopsies or sampling of tissue.
Whether in the middle of the night, early in the morning, or on a busy holiday weekend, the GLVC emergency service is available to provide emergency and critical care to your beloved family pet. Our team of skilled emergency veterinarians, licensed veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, and client services representatives is here to offer prompt, compassionate treatment for any kind of illness or ailment, whether it be a minor ear infection or serious injuries from automobile trauma.
Emergent services such as foreign body retrieval can be performed at almost any time (day or night) with members of our endoscopy team, which is overseen by a board-certified specialist in small animal internal medicine. We have multiple grabbers, forceps, snares, and baskets at our disposal, which permit successful removal of most foreign bodies in the stomach or esophagus.
In addition to less invasive foreign body removal, we provide urgent endoscopy for further diagnosis of intestinal disease, severe and/or progressive airway or nasal disease, and bladder disease in need of biopsy. Urgent cases will receive an initial internal medicine consultation in association with the procedure, with long-term care transitioned back to you and the your regular veterinarian.
